Simon Cowell revealed that Cheryl turned down a position as a judge on Britain’s Got Talent, possibly affected by the death of Liam Payne.

Simon Cowell has disclosed that singer Cheryl rejected a role as a judge on Britain’s Got Talent and has praised Amanda Holden, whom he considers the “queen” of the show.

The successful ITV talent show returns for its 18th season on Saturday, featuring a judging panel consisting of Cowell, Holden, Alesha Dixon, and Bruno Tonioli. Additionally, KSI will join as a guest judge.

Cowell highlighted Holden’s enthusiasm, who has been a judge since the first season. “She loves the show. There are days when I’m exhausted, and she still enjoys every moment,” he remarked.

The music mogul revealed that Cheryl, a former member of Girls Aloud, was considered for the programme but withdrew a week before filming began. “She called me and said, ‘I can’t do it,’ without giving me a reason,” he explained. Some sources suggest that her decision may be related to the recent death of Liam Payne, with whom she shares a child, and whose loss has left her devastated. It is even rumoured that she has ended her relationship with a mysterious boyfriend due to this.

Britain’s Got Talent returns on 22 February at 19:00 on Virgin Media One.
