SOREL and Proenza Schouler present an innovative footwear collection that combines the iconic functionality of winter boots with contemporary urban style.

The collaboration between SOREL and Proenza Schouler has resulted in an exciting footwear collection that fuses the functionality of winter boots with contemporary urban design. Unveiled at New York Fashion Week September 2024, this collaboration includes two distinctive styles: the Caribou Mule and the Caribou Chelsea Boot.

Designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, founders of Proenza Schouler, have reinterpreted SOREL’s iconic Caribou boots, transforming them into sleek, versatile pieces that are perfect for everyday city wear. The Caribou Mule, which features a low-cut boot design, and the Caribou Chelsea Boot, which incorporates a signature stretch panel, stand out for their waterproof leather construction and SOREL’s Aero-Trac sole , which provides traction and support in wintry conditions.

The color palette chosen reflects a New York-inspired aesthetic, combining classic shades of black and white with a vibrant mustard yellow that evokes the energy of the city. Both pieces feature a detailed design that includes contrast stitching and a custom logo on the back.

According to the creators, this collaboration represents a “counterpoint” to the softer, more feminine pieces of Proenza Schouler’s spring/summer 2025 collection. The idea was to integrate robust elements that balance the delicate silhouettes presented on the runway.
