KENZO’s Fall-Winter 2024 campaign merges volcanic landscapes with science fiction, exploring the connection between the traditional and the futuristic.

Directed by Artistic Director NIGO, the new Fall-Winter 2024 campaign transports us to the volcanic landscapes of Lanzarote, where the earthly merges with the cosmic. Inspired by cultural exchange and space travel, the collection stands out for its blend of traditional Japanese elements with futuristic touches.

The volcanoes of Lanzarote provide the perfect backdrop for this visual exploration. Photographed by Johnny Dufort and Frank Lebon, the campaign pays homage to classic science fiction, evoking the visual style used by George Lucas in creating Star Wars. The collection features unique pieces, such as a kimono coat with the silhouette of a warrior’s cloak and a pleated dress reminiscent of space heroines.

The inclusion of textures like hand-woven fabrics, synthetic furs, and metallic materials adds depth and dynamism to the garments, connecting ancient pasts with an imagined future. Additionally, the short films accompanying the campaign, with music by Kazuki Ubukata, capture the essence of interplanetary exploration, reinforcing the collection’s narrative.

KENZO FW 2024 not only celebrates diversity and history but also reimagines the future of fashion, creating a bridge between the old and the new, the everyday and the extraordinary.
