The designer will continue collaborating with the group as a global ambassador for sustainability.

Stella McCartney has decided to reclaim the minority stake in her brand previously held by LVMH, marking a new chapter in her entrepreneurial journey. Although the luxury conglomerate has divested its share in the brand, McCartney will remain connected to the group as its global ambassador for sustainability.

LVMH emphasized in a statement that this decision comes “after more than five years of successful collaboration.” According to the group, the move reflects McCartney’s desire to move forward independently after working together to strengthen the structure of her brand. Despite this separation, McCartney will continue advising the Arnault family on sustainability matters in her new role as ambassador.

Since LVMH acquired a minority stake in 2019, the partnership has been defined by a shared commitment to sustainable practices, a key priority for McCartney. The collaboration allowed her to retain majority control of her brand. During her time with LVMH, McCartney spearheaded innovative initiatives, such as transforming grape stems collected during the production of Veuve Clicquot champagne into luxury accessories. Furthermore, in her Spring 2024 show, models carried a handbag made from this recycled material, which helped reduce greenhouse gas emissions associated with leather and winemaking.

With this change, Stella McCartney reaffirms her vision of independence while continuing to maintain her leadership in sustainable fashion and her influence within LVMH.
