However, her story extends far beyond the ring. Martin survived an attempted murder by her husband and trainer, Jim Martin, who was sentenced to 25 years in prison. Following this traumatic event, Christy became an active advocate for domestic violence victims and founded Christy’s Champs, an organisation that supports those facing such challenges.
Directed by David Michôd and co-written with Mirrah Foulkes, the biopic offers a deep and intimate look at Martin’s life – from glory and success to personal battles with addiction and the search for identity.
