Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn reportedly split after nearly six years of dating.

Entertainment Tonight first reported on the split yesterday, Saturday, and alleged that the two ended things “a few weeks ago.” The media reported that the separation “was not dramatic” and that “the relationship had just run its course.”

Taylor and Joe have not confirmed the breakup.

As the Grammy Award-winning superstar kicked off her highly anticipated Eras Tour last month, Joe was noticeably absent from the crowd. ET confirmed that the breakup was the reason the British actor had not attended any of her shows.

Taylor, 33, and Joe, 32, began dating in 2016 and have kept their relationship private. The couple was rumored to be were rumored to be engaged (or possibly married), but neither confirmed that this was true. In an interview with WSJ last year, Joe kept mum on whether or not they planned to walk down the aisle.

“I mean, the truth is, if the answer was yes, I wouldn’t say, and if the answer was no, I wouldn’t say,” Joe told the magazine.

While fans have speculated over the years that many of Taylor’s songs are about Joe, Taylor confirmed that “Lavender Haze” from her most recent album, Midnights, was, in fact, inspired by their relationship.

In an Instagram video posted in October ahead of the album’s release, Taylor said she wrote “Lavender Haze” about her romance after learning the phrase from an episode of Mad Men.

“I guess, theoretically, when you’re in the lavender haze you’ll do anything to stay there and not let people pull you down from that cloud,” Taylor said at the time. “Just like my relationship for six years, we’ve had to dodge strange rumors, tabloid stuff and just ignore it. This song is about the act of ignoring those things in order to protect the real things.“.

Joe has been credited under the pseudonym William Bowery on several Taylor songs over the years, including five tracks on Taylor’s 2020 albums Folklore and Evermore. He was also credited for “Sweet Nothing” in Midnights.

Now that the two have split up, The Swifties anticipate an extremely sad breakup album.
