Dries Van Noten Marks the End of a Golden Era in Fashion with His Final Show, Celebrating Innovation and Legacy in Paris.

Last Saturday, Dries Van Noten showcased his final fashion show, bringing to a close a golden era in Belgian fashion. The significance of this event was highlighted by the attendance of fashion luminaries such as Diane Von Furstenberg, Pierpaolo Piccioli, and original members of the Antwerp Six, Ann Demeulemeester and Walter Van Beirendonck. The show featured videos from some of his most iconic runway moments, including the 2005 show where models walked on a 100-meter-long table.

Instead of a retrospective, Van Noten brought innovation with iridescent metallic fabrics. Notable models like Alain Gossuin, Stefano Tartini, and Karen Elson graced the runway, wearing pieces that combined floral prints with metallic fabrics on a silver leaf runway.

“I wanted it to be a celebration, and I believe it was,” said Van Noten. His collection, primarily menswear, featured women dressed as if they were wearing their boyfriends’ clothes. “I didn’t want to look back, but rather show new materials and move forward,” added the 66-year-old designer.

With 130 shows throughout his career, Van Noten, an alumnus of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, leaves behind a unique legacy. In 2018, he sold his business to the Puig family. Now, he plans to retire to his garden in Belgium and his property in Naples, leaving an indelible mark on the fashion world.
