The Belgian designer could become the next successor to John Galliano.

After leaving Y/Project last year following a decade-long tenure at the brand, many rumours have circulated about Glenn Martens‘ next move in the fashion world. The current creative director of Diesel is speculated to take the helm at Maison Margiela, succeeding John Galliano, who recently stepped down from his position at the house.

Although Margiela has yet to confirm any of the news, Renzo Rosso, president of the OTB group, is said to have approached Martens, given the elevated status Diesel has achieved since the Belgian became its creative director. Furthermore, the designer ventured into haute couture in 2022 as a guest designer for Jean Paul Gaultier. The French label recruited him after seeing his graduation show at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp in 2008, leading to Martens’ role as a junior designer for the women’s pre-collection and the G2 men’s line at JPG.

Confirmation is still awaited as to whether these rumours are true and whether the Belgian designer will join the ranks of the esteemed French fashion house.
