After two decades without releasing an album, the actor and rapper is making a comeback with a project featuring Jaden Smith, Teyana Taylor, Big Sean, and more.

Will Smith is ready to make history in music once again. Since his solo debut with ‘Big Willie Style‘ in 1997, the iconic actor and rapper has delivered major hits such as Men in Black’, ‘Gettin’ Jiggy wit It’, and Wild Wild West‘, with all his albums reaching the Top 15 on Billboard.

However, it has been 20 years since his last release, Lost and Found‘ (2005). Now, Smith has officially announced his return with ‘Based on a True Story‘, a brand-new album set to drop in the coming weeks.

The project will feature 14 tracks and include guest appearances from artists such as his son Jaden Smith, Teyana Taylor, Big Sean, Russ, OBanga, Joyner Lucas, and DJ Jazzy Jeff, among others. The first hint of the album came in January when Smith shared a Matrix-themed video on Instagram featuring a cameo from Big Sean. Then, in February, during a livestream with streamer xQc, he revealed that the album would be released in multiple parts, comparing it to TV “seasons,” where each song represents an “episode.”

I’m going to release it in seasons, Smith explained. The first season will drop at the end of March, and the second at the end of July. The highly anticipated ‘Based on a True Story‘ will be available on digital platforms from 28 March.
