The French house Zadig & Voltaire enters a new creative chapter under Dan Sablon, who will debut at Paris Fashion Week and shape the aesthetic direction of the brand’s next era.
Zadig & Voltaire has announced the appointment of Dan Sablon as its new Creative Director, a strategic move signalling a leadership shift at the label known for its Parisian aesthetic infused with rock influences. Currently Cultural Director-at-Large at Vogue France, Sablon will balance both roles as he prepares his first collection for the house, set to be unveiled this March during Paris Fashion Week, one of the most significant fixtures on the international fashion calendar.
He succeeds Cecilia Bönström, who led the brand’s creative direction from 2006 to 2024. In his new position, Sablon will report directly to founder and owner Thierry Gillier, at a pivotal moment for the company. Following the 2024 departure of chief executive Remy Baume, the house returned to renewed family management, consolidating a strategic transition phase aimed at strengthening its identity and global projection.

With more than 15 years of industry experience, Dan Sablon brings a hybrid profile spanning design, editorial and cultural consultancy. He has worked as a designer and creative adviser for Marc Jacobs and collaborated with brands including Carhartt WIP, Fenty x Puma and Rick Owens. In the editorial sphere, he served as fashion director of French magazine Lui and contributed as an editor to i-D Magazine, reinforcing his sensitivity to contemporary culture and visual storytelling.
Founded in 1997, Zadig & Voltaire built its identity on a modern reinterpretation of French style, defined by sharp tailoring, relaxed ease and constant references to music and urban culture. This DNA, blending sophistication with nonchalant attitude, has been central to its positioning within the contemporary luxury segment.
The company entered a new phase in 2024 after returning to family control while continuing its international expansion, following a minority investment in 2020 by Luxembourg-based Peninsula Capital. This financial and structural context positions Sablon’s arrival as a strategic turning point in consolidating the brand’s global growth.
In an official statement, the new Creative Director outlined his intention to refine the house’s “distinct Parisian attitude”. His aim is to build a wardrobe defined by clarity, character and strong recognisable archetypes, always informed by contemporary culture. Rather than a radical break, an evolution is expected — one that preserves Zadig & Voltaire’s historic codes while updating its visual language for a more global and discerning consumer.
The presentation of his first collection at Paris Fashion Week will be decisive in understanding how Sablon intends to reinterpret the brand’s legacy and reposition it within today’s luxury landscape. In a market where creative direction has become a determining factor in brand positioning, this transition represents not only an aesthetic shift but also a strategic statement.
The industry is watching closely. Sablon’s blend of editorial expertise, cultural insight and high-profile brand experience places him in a strong position to bridge tradition and modernity. For Zadig & Voltaire, the challenge is clear: to retain its rock-inflected essence and relaxed sophistication while redefining its narrative in an increasingly competitive and evolving environment.
March’s debut will not simply be another collection. It will mark the first visible gesture of a new era for one of the French houses that has most successfully translated Parisian attitude into modern luxury.
