Acne Studios explores masculine energy for Autumn 2025 with a mix of ‘looksmaxxing’, masculine power, and playful ’80s-inspired style.
Jonny Johansson, creative director of Acne Studios, approaches men’s fashion with a mix of fascination and bewilderment. His eldest son, Frasse, who at 11 was the star of an Acne womenswear campaign, now at 21, has a chameleonic approach to style, ranging from Lenny Kravitz to Japanese goth.
For the Autumn 2025 season, Johansson delved into the world of ‘looksmaxxing’, a youth obsession focused on meeting strict physical ideals. Inspired by this phenomenon, he explored everything from ‘gym bunnies’ to ‘finance bros’, offering cropped tops with the fictional ‘Pink Gym for everyone’ logo, paired with tailored jackets or velvet tracksuits.
In a departure from previous seasons, Johansson also presented office-friendly options inspired by ’80s power dressing. Featuring fluid shirt-dress versions, more streamlined distressed jeans, and relaxed-fit suits, the designer played cleverly with masculine archetypes. A classic trench coat with quilting, trompe-l’œil pants, and sneakers that hybridise boxing shoes with ballet flats highlight his playful approach to fashion.
