With a career shaped by action and thriller roles, Eve Mauro now takes on one of her most challenging characters to date in ‘A Working Man.’

Following the success of ‘Suicide Squad’, director David Ayer returns to the big screen with the season’s most anticipated thriller: ‘A Working Man’. In it, Eve Mauro stars as Artemis, a woman born out of pain, whose sense of morality is ambiguous at best. Speaking about the role, the actress reflects on the intensity of the experience: “It was both exhilarating and demanding. The greatest challenge was balancing her emotional depth with the physical demands of the role.”

Portraying Artemis was not only demanding but also an eye-opening experience for Eve on a personal level. “I learnt how far we are willing to go to survive, and I realised that even in the most difficult circumstances, people still find ways to fight for their place in the world,” she shares. That very empathy, she believes, is what will surprise audiences the most about the film: “Even though she’s seen as the ‘villain’, there are moments of vulnerability that reveal her humanity. The film explores the grey areas of morality we face in real life, and I hope that resonates with viewers.”

Given Eve Mauro’s extensive background in action and thriller films and series, one might assume she’s an avid fan of the genre—and she admits it plays a key role when choosing her projects: “I’ve always been drawn to them. They offer exciting narratives, and the adrenaline and high stakes in these stories allow for captivating performances that really push boundaries and keep audiences engaged.” However, after two decades in the industry, her approach to such characters has evolved: “I’ve learnt to appreciate the subtleties of storytelling more and to focus on emotional authenticity,” she says.

“In an age when public exposure can easily overshadow true talent, I try to focus on my craft rather than the superficial aspects of fame.”

That experience has also given her a clear understanding of the challenges actresses face in today’s industry: “One of the biggest challenges is navigating the ever-changing dynamics and expectations of the industry. There’s an increasing emphasis on authenticity and inclusion, but sometimes this is still hindered by deep-rooted stereotypes and biases.”

Those same stereotypes are one of the reasons why Eve prefers to keep a low profile when it comes to her personal life on social media: “In an age when public exposure can easily overshadow true talent, I try to focus on my craft rather than the superficial aspects of fame.”

In her line of work, fashion is another element of self-expression for Eve, especially when it comes to feeling at ease during her intense action scenes: “Wearing clothes that reflect Artemis’ toughness helps me channel her energy while staying comfortable on set,” she explains. Off-screen, she views her personal style as something that should evolve alongside her: “Life takes us through different stages, and I believe our wardrobe should adapt and grow with us.”
