Chanel joins forces with Kendrick Lamar in an unprecedented collaboration that redefines contemporary luxury through its new eyewear campaign.
Kendrick Lamar, the acclaimed American rapper and the only artist of his genre to have won a Pulitzer Prize, has been announced as Chanel’s new ambassador and the face of its latest eyewear campaign. The connection between the artist and the French maison began in 2023, when he attended the Met Gala wearing a quilted leather bomber jacket designed by Virginie Viard.
This new chapter in their partnership is cemented through a visual campaign shot by photographer Karim Sadli, in which Lamar brings the spirit of PGlang, his creative studio, into Chanel’s elegant and conceptual world. In 2024, they had already collaborated in haute couture with the short film The Button, a piece featuring a glowing medallion of the iconic logo.
Although Chanel rarely ventures into menswear, figures such as G-Dragon and Timothée Chalamet preceded Kendrick in this exclusive list. “Chanel has a timeless legacy, and that has always inspired me,” Lamar stated, noting that his first pieces from the brand would be eyewear, given the limited presence of menswear.
The campaign reinforces the brand’s commitment to glasses as a symbol of style, beyond gender.
