Spain’s Melody delivered one of the most talked-about performances of the night — but finished shockingly low. Was this politics over music?

In a night full of drama, few performances had the impact of Melody‘s. Representing Spain with her track ‘Esa diva’, she delivered what many called the most professional and memorable act of Eurovision 2025: soaring vocals, high-impact staging, and acrobatic aerial choreography that went instantly viral.

Yet despite trending worldwide and earning praise from vocal coaches, content creators and international media, Spain finished in a dismal 24th place — sparking outrage and confusion across the fan community.

Meanwhile, Israel, whose entry was surrounded by political controversy due to the ongoing conflict in Gaza, placed second after dominating the public vote. Spain’s national broadcaster RTVE had openly questioned Israel’s participation — a move that reportedly led to threats of sanctions from the EBU if political commentary aired during the show. Coincidence, or quiet retaliation?

To make matters worse, several jury members from other countries broke neutrality rules by encouraging public votes for Israel on social media, raising questions about fairness in a contest that claims to be apolitical.

But despite the result, Melody has emerged as a winner. She has gained thousands of new followers, international attention, and built a strong foundation for what’s next.

Her new single, ‘El Apagón’, drops on 23 May, and with the momentum she’s built, it’s already generating serious buzz. Eurovision didn’t give her the trophy — but Europe is still watching.
