Jenna Ortega reveals the challenges of taking on ‘Wednesday’, her experience with anxiety, and how her fame at the Met Gala is propelling her career forward.

The 22-year-old actress, who rose to stardom through Scream and her unforgettable portrayal of Wednesday Addams, graces the cover of Harper’s Bazaar’s Summer 2025 issue, where she shares intimate insights into her life and career.

The star admitted she nearly turned down the role of Wednesday Addams out of fear of being typecast and missing out on other opportunities. “I didn’t want to hear what Tim [Burton] had to say because I knew I’d love it – and that’s exactly what happened,” she confessed. Ortega even filmed a second audition in her bathroom while shooting X, determined to give it her all.

Reflecting on her childhood, Jenna shared: “I was always existential. The world always felt like it was ending. My work became my refuge.” She also spoke about social media and the impact of growing up in the spotlight, drawing comparisons to Natalie Portman’s experience.

Additionally, she revealed that the second season of Wednesday will be “bigger, bolder, bloodier and a bit darker”, promising surprises for fans. The actress made it clear she’s ready for more mature and diverse roles, while staying true to who she is.
