‘Tilted East’ was born from Henry’s (Brand’s founder) healing journey, turning his story into a creative community where clothing carries true meaning.
‘Tilted East’ isn’t just a clothing brand — it’s fashion with purpose, born from a deeply personal journey through recovery. Rooted in mental health awareness, the label transforms real stories into raw, expressive streetwear that resonates with its community. Three years ago, Henry walked through the doors of a rehabilitation centre in South Africa — uncertain, exhausted, and ready for change. After more than a decade grappling with mental health challenges and addiction, something in him was ready to try a different path. That raw and pivotal moment would unknowingly mark the beginning of ‘Tilted East’.
In those early days of recovery, Henry found it difficult to articulate how he felt. “Group therapy was overwhelming. The more I tried to explain, the less sense it made,” he recalls. But during the weekly art therapy sessions, something clicked. He wasn’t an artist, but art gave shape to what words couldn’t. That hour became sacred—for him, and for others in the room. Through colour and texture, they found connection. Unspoken, but deeply understood.

That space of silent expression planted the seed for what would become ‘Tilted East’—a streetwear brand born from vulnerability and driven by the need for meaningful creativity.
“Getting sober wasn’t the fairytale I thought it might be. At times, it felt like the opposite.”
Henry, founder of Tilted East
Starting a label in early recovery might have seemed impulsive to some. Henry doesn’t disagree entirely. “Getting sober hasn’t been a smooth journey. But having something to hold onto—something that matters—has kept me grounded.”
‘Tilted East’ is more than a fashion label. It’s a creative community rooted in the belief that clothing can speak when words fall short. Every collection is built around stories—personal, collective, and always sincere.
The brand invites designers, artists, and storytellers to turn their mental health experiences into wearable art. Bold, honest, and often raw, the pieces offer a window into the emotional landscapes we all navigate—but don’t always share out loud.
The mission is clear: to become the world’s go-to community-driven streetwear brand that uses creativity as a tool for healing. By using garments as canvases, ‘Tilted East’ aims to spark empathy, connection, and real conversations around mental health. And it backs its mission with action, donating 10% of profits to charities working in the mental health space.
“Everyone’s journey looks different. And sometimes, words just don’t cut it,” says Henry. “But when you create space for people to express themselves and be heard—something powerful happens.”
