Ulysse Nardin introduces a technical and artistic feat: the Freak X Gold Enamel, limited to just 120 unique pieces.
In a field where innovation is measured in microns, Ulysse Nardin once again defies convention. The Swiss maison has just launched its newest collector’s piece: the Freak X Gold Enamel, a bold new entry in the iconic Freak line that bridges 17th-century enamel work with 21st-century mechanics.
No dial, no crown – just pure mechanical theatre
True to the disruptive nature of the Freak series, the watch features no traditional dial, hands or crown. Instead, it tells time through a flying carousel movement: a rotating central bridge that displays the minutes, while a pointer on the disc shows the hours. The entire movement makes a full 360-degree rotation every hour, appearing to “fly” above the base disc—unobstructed by an upper bridge.
Crafted in 22-carat rose gold, the hour disc introduces a guilloché-flinqué sunray motif in deep blue enamel—a first for the Freak X line. Time-setting is done via the bezel, and winding is handled through a rear mechanism integrated into the caseback. The 43 mm case itself comes in blue PVD-coated titanium with additional rose gold accents, paired with a matching blue alligator strap.

Hand-crafted uniqueness: no two dials are the same
Behind each dial lies over eight hours of meticulous work at Donzé Cadrans, Ulysse Nardin’s in-house enamelling atelier. The flinqué technique—where translucent enamel is layered over hand-engraved guilloché patterns—makes every disc an individual work of art. No two are alike, ensuring true collectability and rarity.
Only 120 pieces worldwide
With just 120 units produced, the Freak X Gold Enamel is as exclusive as it is technically audacious. It offers a 72-hour power reserve and 50 metres of water resistance, combining durability with sophistication. Priced at $48,500 (excluding VAT), it is available exclusively via Ulysse Nardin’s official website.
