Dakota Johnson becomes Valentino’s new global brand ambassador, reuniting with Alessandro Michele and reaffirming her status as a modern style icon.
Italian fashion house Valentino has officially announced that American actress and producer Dakota Johnson will become its new global brand ambassador, marking a fresh chapter in her collaboration with Alessandro Michele, the brand’s creative director since March 2024.
Johnson, one of Michele’s long-standing muses since his Gucci era, reunites with the designer in a partnership that strengthens her connection to the world of Roman haute couture. “I’m elated to be joining the Valentino family and beyond happy to be reunited with my dearest friend Alessandro Michele. I am honoured and excited to begin this new chapter with such a talented team,” said the actress.
With a career that bridges independent cinema and major blockbusters, Johnson has become a symbol of contemporary elegance. Her portrayal of Anastasia Steele in the ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ saga (2015–2018) propelled her to global fame, while her consistent presence on red carpets has cemented her status as a modern style icon. She recently starred in the comedy ‘Splitsville’, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, and in the romantic drama ‘Materialists’, directed by Celine Song, alongside Chris Evans and Pedro Pascal.
The actress is also set to appear in ‘Verity’, a psychological romantic thriller directed by Michael Showalter, sharing the screen with Anne Hathaway and Josh Hartnett.
Valentino stated that this appointment “reinforces the maison’s ongoing dialogue with individuals who embody a shared commitment to artistry, elegance and cultural resonance.”
With this announcement, Dakota Johnson joins Valentino’s circle of global ambassadors, including Clairo, Sophie Thatcher, Freen Sarocha, Jeff Satur, Lim Yoona, and Colman Domingo, who also serves as the global ambassador for Valentino Beauty’s fragrance lines.
