LVMH strengthens its high jewellery strategy with the appointment of Laura Burdese as the new CEO of Bulgari.
The LVMH group has announced the appointment of Laura Burdese as the new Chief Executive Officer of Bulgari, succeeding Jean-Christophe Babin, who has led the historic Roman maison for the past twelve years. The transition will take effect on 1 July next year and forms part of a broader generational renewal process within the French luxury conglomerate.
Babin, a key figure in Bulgari’s contemporary consolidation, will remain closely linked to the group as Chairman of Bulgari and CEO of Bulgari Hotels & Resorts. He will also continue to oversee LVMH’s watchmaking division, which includes brands such as Hublot, TAG Heuer and Zenith, further reinforcing his strategic role within the group.
Laura Burdese brings a solid track record within the LVMH ecosystem. She joined the group nearly a decade ago as CEO of Acqua di Parma and, following her arrival at Bulgari in 2022 as Chief Marketing Officer, was promoted to Deputy Chief Executive Officer in July last year. Her previous career includes senior roles at Beiersdorf, L’Oréal and Swatch, combining global vision, brand sensitivity and operational expertise.
“Laura’s appointment, as she opens a new chapter for Bulgari, recognises her contribution and achievements within the group,” said Stéphane Bianchi, Chief Executive Officer of LVMH, in an official statement. Both Burdese and Babin will report directly to Bianchi, who oversees the strategic and operational management of the group’s maisons.
The move comes at a favourable moment for LVMH’s watches and jewellery division, which has outperformed other areas of the group in recent quarters, driven by consumer preference for hard luxury over fashion and leather goods. In this context, Burdese’s arrival reinforces LVMH’s commitment to consolidating Bulgari’s growth and desirability at the very top end of the luxury market.
