Following the breakout success of ‘Heated Rivalry’, Connor Storrie joins Billie Eilish in Sarah Polley’s highly anticipated adaptation of ‘The Bell Jar’.
Connor Storrie‘s meteoric rise shows no signs of slowing down. After becoming one of the breakout stars of the year thanks to ‘Heated Rivalry’, the 25-year-old actor has secured another high-profile project, joining Sarah Polley’s adaptation of ‘The Bell Jar’, with Billie Eilish set to lead the cast.
Although his role has yet to be officially revealed, Storrie has reportedly already been spotted on set as filming gets underway. The project, backed by Focus Features, is currently targeting a 2027 release.
Based on Sylvia Plath’s celebrated semi-autobiographical novel, ‘The Bell Jar’ follows Esther Greenwood, played by Billie Eilish, a gifted young woman whose promising future gradually gives way to depression, identity struggles and the overwhelming pressures placed upon her by society. First published in 1963 under the pen name Victoria Lucas, the novel remains one of the most influential works of modern literature.
For Storrie, the casting marks another milestone in what has been an extraordinary twelve months. Since ‘Heated Rivalry’ premiered, the American actor has become one of Hollywood’s fastest-rising names, attracting attention from some of the industry’s most respected filmmakers.
His upcoming slate already includes several major productions, among them A24’s ‘Peaked’, directed by Molly Gordon, ‘Please’ from Halina Reijn, and Craig Zobel’s thriller ‘Turpentine’. Adding a Sarah Polley drama alongside Billie Eilish only reinforces how quickly his career is evolving.
Away from the screen, Storrie’s profile has grown just as rapidly. Over the past year he has made his Met Gala debut, presented at the Golden Globe Awards, signed ambassador deals with Saint Laurent and Tiffany & Co., and recently earned his first Emmy nomination for hosting ‘Saturday Night Live’.
Inevitably, his sudden popularity has sparked conversations about whether he is simply the latest social media phenomenon or an actor with genuine staying power. However, the calibre of directors choosing to cast him suggests Hollywood sees far more than online hype.
