North West is determined to pursue music professionally, although she also dreams of experiencing a regular job at Starbucks soon.
North West is beginning to define how she sees her professional future. At just 13 years old, the daughter of Kim Kardashian and Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, has already taken significant first steps in music and insists she has no intention of waiting until adulthood to build a career of her own. However, her ambitions also include a much more everyday goal: getting a job at Starbucks when she turns 14.
The teenager discussed her plans in an interview for the autumn 2026 issue of Dazed, where she explained just how important music has become in her life. When asked about the worst piece of advice she had ever received, her answer made her determination clear.
“To start my career later. It’s like, nah, this is my hobby, this is what I like to do, this is what I wanna do with my life,” she said.
For Kardashian’s eldest daughter, music is both something she enjoys and a potential profession. Her routine reflects that dedication, as she admits that she would rather stay busy with rehearsals, recording sessions and performances than spend too much time resting.
“I don’t like to rest a lot. I like to get stuff done. So maybe just going to rehearsal, and then going to the studio; that’s a perfect day. Or having a big show would be the most ideal day,” she explained.
Her musical journey already includes several notable milestones. In June, she made her first solo festival appearance at Summer Smash, an experience she described as “fun, relieving and exciting”. She also revealed that praying before going on stage is part of her pre-show ritual.
Among her biggest musical influences is Lil Uzi Vert. North cited the album Pink Tape as one of the records that influenced her own work and named the rapper as one of the artists she would like to collaborate with in the future.
Her recording debut arrived remarkably early. At just 12 years old, she released N0rth4evr, a six-track EP that offered the first substantial glimpse of her individual musical identity. She later released a horror-inspired music video for “Aishite”, further developing an aesthetic that combines music, fashion and striking visual experimentation.
She also made a surprise appearance on stage alongside Molly Santana in May. The pair subsequently planned to embark on a tour together, although the project was cancelled only days before the opening show.
Her father, Ye, and his wife, Bianca Censori, also publicly showed their support for this new chapter by attending a pop-up event organised around the release of N0rth4evr.
Music, however, is not the only professional experience that has caught North’s attention. The teenager revealed that she had previously considered becoming a basketball player, although she eventually changed her mind about pursuing the sport professionally.
Now there is another job she would like to try. Once she turns 14, North hopes she will be able to work at Starbucks, largely because she is curious about experiencing what she describes as a “regular job”.
“I wanna work at, like, Starbucks next year. I think I can next year ’cause I’m gonna be 14, so… I think I can. I want to have a regular job, I guess,” she said.
Her comments reveal an unusual combination of ambitions: while North West’s music career is already beginning to take shape in the public eye, she remains curious about experiences far removed from celebrity life. For now, she appears determined to explore both worlds on her own terms.
