JW Anderson presents Twisted Denim with Dree Hemingway and Nick Delli Santi, a unisex collection crafted from Japanese cotton.

JW Anderson is once again proving that even one of the most universal wardrobe staples can be transformed through subtle changes in construction. The brand presents its new Twisted Denim campaign, starring model and actress Dree Hemingway and her partner, Nick Delli Santi, who pose together for the first time in a project centred on denim, intimacy and a shared approach to style.

The photographs were shot by Sam Khoury under the creative direction of Jonathan Anderson. Rather than relying on an overly elaborate setting, the images place the couple in a relaxed environment where their own relationship becomes the connecting thread.

This sense of intimacy allows the clothes to be presented from a more personal perspective. Hemingway and Delli Santi do not appear simply as models tasked with showcasing a collection, but as two people connected by a common aesthetic. The result brings a natural and slightly playful quality to a campaign in which JW Anderson denim remains the true protagonist.

The key to the collection lies precisely in its construction. Twisted Denim begins with the traditional silhouette of a pair of jeans before strategically altering some of its most recognisable elements. The front is twisted, while the seams running down the legs follow the same direction, creating a sense of movement that visually transforms the structure of the trousers.

The intervention perfectly encapsulates one of the recurring characteristics of Jonathan Anderson’s design language: taking familiar everyday objects or garments and transforming them through apparently simple modifications that ultimately change the way they are perceived.

In this case, there is no need to abandon the classic codes of denim. Instead, Anderson plays with them. The repositioned seams and altered front panel turn a familiar garment into something unexpected while maintaining enough functionality to make it easy to incorporate into an everyday wardrobe.

Another fundamental aspect of JW Anderson Twisted Denim is its unisex approach. The collection has been conceived to work across different bodies without depending on traditional distinctions between menswear and womenswear.

The campaign reinforces this idea by showing Dree Hemingway and Nick Delli Santi sharing the same stylistic language. The garments take on a different character depending on who wears them, but retain the distinctive twisted construction that gives the entire line its identity.

Manufacturing also plays an important role in the project. Each piece is made from Japanese cotton and produced in Japan by specialist denim makers, reflecting the country’s reputation for some of the most highly regarded techniques in international denim production.

Its origins are highlighted through several details. A “Made in Japan” inscription appears inside the garments, while a large leather patch features an embossed JW Anderson logo. Metal shank buttons and orange finishing introduce further recognisable elements into a construction where even the less visible components receive careful attention.

The choice of materials and manufacturing demonstrates that the collection does not rely solely on its striking silhouette. JW Anderson aims to combine visual experimentation, quality and technical expertise, ensuring that the transformation of the classic jean feels convincing both in terms of design and craftsmanship.

With Twisted Denim, the house takes an everyday essential and gives it a subtle but unmistakable new identity. Through Dree Hemingway and Nick Delli Santi, the campaign also reinforces the idea that contemporary denim can move naturally between different wearers, proving that a familiar garment can still offer plenty of room for experimentation.
