BLACKPINK, the K-pop group formed by Jennie, Jisoo, Rosé and Lisa, made history as the first Asian band to headline the Coachella festival.

In addition, they became the first all-girl group to receive this distinction, after an impressive and spectacular performance on the main stage. Each of the four girls had their moment to shine, including solos from their respective solo albums, although the most impactful performance was arguably Lisa’s with a solo dance number.

“Four years ago, we were invited to play for you here at Coachella back in Sahara Tent, and that left a mark on all of our hearts and made us remember the passion of playing for you. Thank you so much. I feel like the reason the four of us are here is because of you guys.”

Rosé declared on stage.

BLACKPINK filled the stage with their impeccable pop production and meticulous choreography/hairstyling, similar to that seen at the Beyoncé’s show “Beychella” five years ago. Although the band had no special collaborations on stage, each of the members had their moment to shine. Her performance was considered a true landmark at Coachella, as few women have received the highest honor at the festival.

Overall, few female acts have received top billing at Coachella: the only ones to share that historic honor since 1999 are Beyoncé, Björk, Billie Eilish , Ariana Grande y Lady Gaga . Still, like all the pop girl groups before them (Spice Girls, TLC, Destiny’s Childs, Girls Aloud, etc), BLACKPINK really shined on stage and proved that they have nothing to envy to their predecessors.
