The platform responsible for announcing all trends, WGSN, and color expert, Coloro, have preemptively announced the color of the year 2025: Future Dusk.
This shade (Coloro 129-35-18), described as “dark, brooding, and intriguing”, with a “sense of mystery and escapism”, represents a period of change and transition. WGSN has also linked the color Future Dusk to the rise of creativity in synthetic materials and technology-driven creative tools, such as artificial intelligence (AI). The platform stated that the color aligns with “immersive and transformative” tones reflected in the metaverse and fantasy.
“For several seasons, Coloro has observed how brands are leaning towards palettes with lasting appeal; Future Dusk is an inspiring color that supports this trans-seasonal approach. It is warm and deep, giving it a temperamental, mysterious, and timeless feel”, explains Caroline Guilbert, Head of Creative Content at Coloro.
Urangoo Samba, Color Director at WGSN, commented, “Colors that bring a sense of security will be key in 2025, and we will see captivating dark tones gaining momentum. This dependable blue will be essential in reinforcing a sense of trust and stability, but as purple, it also carries an imaginative quality that dynamically drives the creation of new futures”.
All of this leads us to believe that we will see this color particularly in tailored pieces, suits, and classic-style garments to be worn in our everyday work or for evening events. Furthermore, we have already begun to see this color in collections from brands such as Gucci, Balenciaga, and Bottega Veneta.
