The tension between Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle seems to have reached a point of no return following the “betrayal” that marked the breaking point in their relationship.
After their decision to step down from their roles as senior members of the royal family in 2020, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have revealed details about their lives behind closed doors.
In their Netflix documentary titled “Harry & Meghan,” they shared how various pressures from the media and the monarchy led them to abandon their royal roles. In their memoir “Spare Harry,” the prince detailed the breakdown of his relationships with Prince William and King Charles.
However, their candid interview with American television host Oprah Winfrey was the first time the couple publicly spoke about their experiences. When it aired in early 2021, Harry and Meghan discussed several incidents that ultimately led them to make the decision to step away.
One of the issues Meghan addressed was the story that she had “made Kate cry” before her wedding in 2018. It had been reported that Meghan upset Kate over the dress for Princess Charlotte, something the Duchess of Sussex said was untrue, asserting instead that it was the other way around. Supposed text messages between them were leaked, and this led Kate to be unable to forgive Meghan.
Speaking to OK!, a source stated that the Princess of Wales considered the Oprah interview as the “ultimate betrayal” and she will “never forgive” the Duchess.
They claimed: “Kate has drawn a firm line in the sand, she won’t change her mind about them. They never apologized for their lies. But it’s harder for William because Harry is his brother. It’s a horrible situation all round.”
According to the source, William hopes to “extend an olive branch to Harry,” but Kate “was furious, and she and William had a big fight,” and reportedly, the Princess stated that she “will never forgive Meghan for what she did” and is unwilling to reconcile.
They continued: “But Kate feels that Harry and especially Meghan have caused enough harm to the royal family, and they will cause even more harm if they are allowed to return.”
The same source also asserted that Meghan is also not pleased with the royal couple, as she “feels they have never been held accountable for how they treated her when she was part of the royalty, they never apologized and apparently got away with it.”
It was recently reported that Kate is working to improve the relationship between William and Harry.
