JAY-Z’s response: “I’ll take the $500,000 USD, please.”

JAY-Z chooses money over a dinner, challenging the notion that his wisdom is worth more than $500,000 USD, asserting that his music already contains everything needed.

The artist responded to the ongoing question in an upcoming interview with Gayle King on CBS Mornings, saying, “You’ve got to take the money.” King expressed the common assumption that the wisdom he could impart to his dinner guests would be more valuable than half a million dollars, but JAY-Z disagreed. He explained that what he can offer is already publicly available and at a much cheaper price. He humorously remarked, “You’ve got all of that in the music for $10.99 USD. That’s a bad deal; I wouldn’t tell you to make a bad deal.”

“Take the $500,000 USD, buy some albums, and listen to the albums,” Hov continued. “It’s all there if you piece it together and really listen to the music for the words, for what it is, it’s all there. Everything I said was going to happen, happened. Everything I said I wanted to do, I’ve done, and there’s The Blueprint. The literal blueprint for me and my life and my career is already there.”

Although this is the first time JAY-Z directly responded to the question, he had previously given his suggestion through the social media account of his streaming service, TIDAL. A tweet from 2021 read, “Take the 500K.”
