Disney+ has unveiled the trailer for ‘Becoming Karl Lagerfeld‘, an original series set to premiere on June 7th. Produced by Gaumont and Jour Premier, the show immerses viewers in Karl Lagerfeld’s formative years, portrayed by Daniel Brühl, in the Paris of the 1970s.
In 1972, Lagerfeld, a 38-year-old designer, meets Jacques de Bascher, played by Théodore Pellerin, an ambitious dandy. The series also delves into the rivalry between Lagerfeld and Yves Saint Laurent, embodied by Arnaud Valois, and his partner Pierre Bergé, portrayed by Alex Lutz.
‘Becoming Karl Lagerfeld’ promises to transport audiences to the opulent settings of Paris, Monaco, and Rome, showcasing Lagerfeld’s tumultuous rise in the fashion world. Based on Raphaëlle Bacqué’s book “Kaiser Karl,” the series features a stellar cast including Agnès Jaoui as Gabrielle Aghion, founder of Chloé.
With direction divided between Jérôme Salle and Audrey Estrougo, and a soundtrack by Evgueni and Sacha Galperine, the series offers an authentic glimpse into the era. ‘Becoming Karl Lagerfeld’ is both a biographical narrative and a celebration of the legacy of the ‘Emperor of Fashion’, in just six episodes.
