According to its official synopsis, the movie follows “global pop sensation Skye Riley,” who is about to embark on her world tour. However, she “starts experiencing increasingly terrifying and inexplicable events.” Overwhelmed by the escalating horrors and the pressures of fame, Skye is forced to confront her dark past to regain control of her life before everything spirals out of control.

The first film revealed that the curse of ‘Smile’ feeds on trauma. Therefore, viewers can expect to uncover how Skye’s traumatic past has influenced her.

The cast and crew filmed the sequel from January to March 2024.

Release Date for ‘Smile 2’

Just in time for Halloween, the sequel will be released on October 18, 2024, courtesy of Paramount Pictures.

Who’s in the Cast of the ‘Smile’ Sequel?

Kyle Gallner reprises his role as Joel from the 2022 film “Smile.” Naomi Scott takes on the lead role, Skye. Naomi is known for her roles in the Disney Channel movie “Lemonade Mouth” and as Princess Jasmine in Disney’s live-action adaptation of “Aladdin.”

Lukas Gage, recognized for his performances in “Euphoria” and “White Lotus,” also appears in the new movie, alongside actress Rosemarie DeWitt.

What Happened at the End of ‘Smile’?

In the final moments of “Smile,” Sosie Bacon‘s character, Rose, becomes trapped and possessed by the entity after it’s revealed that her trauma stems from a childhood memory of allowing her abusive mother to die. As the film concludes, Joel arrives to save Rose, breaking down a door only to witness her engulfed in flames. Consequently, the curse transfers to Joel. In the sequel, Joel’s fate is further explored in a scene involving Naomi Scott’s character, Skye, as depicted in the trailer.
