Ariana Grande dazzled at the Olympics by arriving dressed as Glinda from Wicked, merging glamour and magic at the event.
During the opening of the Paris 2024 Olympics in Paris, acclaimed pop star Ariana Grande appeared wearing a dress inspired by her character Glinda from the film Wicked. She was accompanied by her co-star Cynthia Erivo, who portrayed Elphaba, and like Ariana, Cynthia also opted for a look inspired by the movie.
Grande wore a custom Thom Browne dress, featuring a long, delicate pink silk fabric with a fitted bodice and a bow at the hips. She accessorized with a matching pink bow in her hair and white silk gloves. On the other hand, Erivo donned an emerald green satin dress with a corseted bodice and exaggerated hip details. Her accessories included a flat-brimmed hat, stiletto heels, and jewelry to complete the outfit.
This isn’t the first public appearance of the Wicked style from the co-stars since they began promoting the film earlier this year. We’ve recently seen their coordinated pink and green looks at events such as the Oscars, CinemaCon, and the Met Gala.
The Olympics will continue over the next two weeks. Some events have already started, but the games will ramp up this weekend. (Of course, there’s also a lot of controversy, including protests both in Paris and Tahiti.) Now that the opening ceremony has officially marked the start of the 2024 Olympics, historic moments and victories are sure to follow.
