Alberta Ferretti is stepping down from her creative role at the brand she founded in 1981, ushering in a new era.
In an unexpected announcement, Italian designer Alberta Ferretti has decided to step aside from her creative role at the brand she established in 1981. Known for her elegance and femininity, Ferretti revolutionized the fashion world with her ethereal and delicate style. In an open letter, the designer revealed that her last show was on September 17 in Milan, and that she will soon announce her successor, who will carry on the brand’s legacy.
“It’s a difficult and well-considered decision,” Ferretti wrote, “but I believe it’s time to open a new chapter for my brand and make room for a new narrative.” Although she will step down as creative director, the brand will continue to bear her name, a symbol of luxury and sophistication.
Ferretti will remain as vice president of the Aeffe group while dedicating herself to personal passions such as art. In her letter, she thanked the collaborators who have been part of her journey, mentioning legendary names like Peter Lindbergh and Steven Meisel. With more than four decades of experience, Ferretti is closing a chapter, but she made it clear that her creative spirit remains alive, promising new projects in the future.
