Belinda, Miguel Ángel Silvestre, Jaime Lorente and Mabel Cadena headline the cast of Carlota, the new historical drama from Sony Pictures Television, which reimagines the life of Mexico’s only empress through a high-end production with international filming locations.
Latin pop star Belinda takes the lead in Carlota, Sony Pictures Television’s latest high-profile series, which reinterprets the life of Carlota of Habsburg, the only Empress of Mexico. The historical drama — consisting of 10 episodes, each 45 minutes long — is expected to become one of the standout releases of the year for streaming platforms and international broadcasters.
Joining Belinda are two actors beloved by Spanish audiences: Miguel Ángel Silvestre (Sense8, Sky Rojo) and Jaime Lorente (Money Heist, El Cid), playing the roles of Alfred Van Der Smissen and Maximilian of Habsburg, respectively. The cast also features Mabel Cadena (Black Panther: Wakanda Forever), and a top-tier creative team led by Alejandro Bazzano and Ana Lorena Pérez Ríos.
Filmed across Mexico, Colombia and Spain, Carlota will tell the story of an idealistic woman facing a hostile world, weaving together elements of political drama, passion and betrayal. The series aims to captivate both Mexican and European audiences, especially at a time when historical fiction is thriving on global platforms.
Both Belinda and Miguel Ángel Silvestre have graced the cover of Xmag in previous editions, further solidifying their status as icons of Hispanic entertainment and their influence in today’s audiovisual industry.
