Blake Lively is demanding that Justin Baldoni pay her millions following the dismissal of his defamation lawsuit, which has been deemed frivolous.
The legal battle between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni has taken a decisive turn. The actress has filed a court motion seeking substantial compensation after successfully having the defamation case that Baldoni filed against her thrown out. According to documents obtained by Variety, Lively argues that the allegations were “frivolous” and is asking the actor to cover all legal costs arising from the proceedings.
The conflict began when Lively publicly accused Baldoni of sexual harassment during the filming of ‘It Ends With Us’. In response, the actor sued her for $400 million in a case that Judge Liman dismissed with prejudice, preventing it from being refiled.
Now, Lively not only wants to cover her legal fees but is also seeking punitive and treble damages under Section 47.1 of US law. The motion argues that, as the prevailing party, she has the right to be compensated for the resources spent defending herself against baseless accusations.
“The actress should not be forced to wait until her own lawsuit is resolved to receive the compensation she is legally entitled to,” the document states. Her legal team further argues that resolving this matter promptly would send a strong deterrent message to future claimants seeking to use the judicial system as a form of retaliation.
Lively has already announced her intention to present detailed evidence to determine the exact amount of damages owed, including expert witness fees, litigation expenses and other legal costs. Her aim is for the figure to be established before the trial scheduled for spring 2026, when her lawsuit against Baldoni will be addressed.
This new chapter in the case underscores Lively’s strategy: not only to defend her name, but also to set a precedent against lawsuits that could be seen as attempts to silence victims.
