Chanel ushers in a new creative era with Matthieu Blazy at the helm and the addition of designer Andrew Heather to its haute couture division.

Matthieu Blazy, who officially took on the role of Artistic Director of Fashion at Chanel on 1 April, has already begun assembling his team with key figures from the design world. According to industry sources, Blazy has recruited Andrew Heather, a British designer with an impressive track record, to take on a strategic role within the maison’s haute couture studio.

Heather, who will join in June, comes from Maison Margiela and boasts a solid career in high fashion. A graduate of London’s Royal College of Art, he began his professional journey with Bruce Oldfield before moving to Paris, where he led Givenchy’s haute couture under Lee Alexander McQueen’s direction. He later worked closely with Riccardo Tisci on the same house’s couture collections.

In 2011, Heather was appointed Creative Director of the historic fur house Revillon, joining a distinguished list of designers to have held the role, including Rick Owens and Peter Dundas.

Heather’s arrival at Chanel marks a period of creative renewal under Blazy’s leadership, at a pivotal moment for the legacy and future of the iconic French house.
