The American actor will return to the Marvel Universe in a role yet to be revealed.
Following his last appearance as Captain America in ‘Avengers: Endgame‘, Chris Evans has confirmed his return to the Marvel franchise in the upcoming project ‘Avengers: Doomsday‘. However, his role remains unknown, as does its significance within the film. Given that his most recent appearance in the Marvel universe was in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine‘, there is also a possibility he could return as Johnny Storm, the character he portrayed in that film as well as in ‘The Fantastic Four‘ movies. It is unclear whether he will reprise one of his previous roles or take on a new character, because, as is typical with Marvel, the film will explore different timelines and universes. Therefore, anything is possible.

With ‘Avengers: Doomsday‘ and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars‘, Marvel has promised to definitively conclude the Multiverse saga, with both films slated for release on 1st May 2026 and 7th May 2027. These films will feature not only current and past characters but also actors from previous Marvel films. For instance, Evans will share the screen with Anthony Mackie, who will portray Sam Wilson, and the incomparable Robert Downey Jr., who will set aside his role as Iron Man to take on the character of Doctor Doom.
In ‘Avengers: Endgame‘, Chris Evans appeared as an elderly Steve Rogers, and considering the historical jumps and storylines the Russo brothers have woven into these films, there is no doubt that Evans’ return will be, at the very least, intriguing.
