Dakota Johnson and Chris Martin end their relationship after eight years; the actress is now focusing on her career and personal wellbeing.
According to sources close to the couple, the split didn’t come as a surprise: “Dakota is doing well. The breakup wasn’t exactly a shock. They had been dealing with the same issues for quite some time,” a source close to the actress revealed.
The Materialists star, 35, is now focusing on her career and new personal projects. “She wants to live her life with intention and without regrets,” the source added. Dakota recently premiered Materialists in cinemas and is gearing up for the release of Splitsville on 22 August, channelling her energy into her professional life.
Although rumours circulated in 2024 that the couple had been secretly engaged for years, there was never any urgency to make it official. Their last public appearance together was on 16 May in Malibu.
Chris Martin, 48, will resume Coldplay’s world tour on 7 July in Toronto. Meanwhile, Dakota is moving forward: “She loves Chris’s children as if they were her own. But right now, she’s prioritising her own happiness.”
