The brand’s voluminous silhouettes and wide skirts were showcased in a palette of black, white, and baby pink on the rose-filled runway that Giambattista Valli brought to us for his new Haute Couture collection.

Giambattista Valli clearly feels at home on the Haute Couture runway, with his skill for exaggerated silhouettes, layers of ruffled tulle, and romantic dresses. This Haute Couture comfort zone was fully on display for the autumn of 2023, which opened with many of these signature looks, showcased in a palette of black, white, and baby pink accentuated with metallics, chartreuse, and even a standout yellow look.

There was a party-in-the-garden and eveningwear vibe to the show, with flowers adorning many of the dresses—in some cases, as handcrafted fabric rosettes; in others, as cheerful prints all over—and heaps of real roses piled on the otherwise bare, carpeted runway.

Maximalist elements such as overall lace, lavish draping, oversized trains, metallic fringe, and large bows are also prominently featured throughout the collection.

There are many pieces here that practically beg to be worn on the red carpet; it’s as if Valli wanted to offer a true bouquet of fresh dresses for stylists to choose from.
