Gucci unveils the Borsetto bag, its latest GG canvas design already spotted on Alex Consani and Vittoria Ceretti.
Luxury houses understand that for an accessory to become iconic, it must first exist beyond the runway. Gucci appears to have struck the right balance with its new Borsetto bag, which has already entered the international street style circuit on the arms of Alex Consani and Vittoria Ceretti.
The name is deliberate. Borsetto merges two Italian words: “borsa” (bag) and “morsetto”, a nod to the House’s emblematic Horsebit detail. The result is a design that revisits classic Gucci codes while proposing a contemporary silhouette.
Crafted in lightweight GG canvas, the model reconciles two seemingly opposing ideas: structure and softness. Its shape retains a defined visual frame while offering a relaxed feel designed for everyday wear. Inside, a new diamond-pattern lining — drawn directly from the brand’s historical archives — reinforces the heritage narrative Gucci has been carefully developing in recent seasons.
In its women’s offering, the bag arrives in three key versions: black leather, dark brown suede and a classic brown-and-sand combination. These tonal options are conceived to integrate seamlessly into both minimalist wardrobes and more statement-driven looks.
Its swift adoption by internationally recognised models confirms a familiar strategy in contemporary luxury: accessories are not introduced solely through campaigns, but through cultural tastemakers visible on social media and at public appearances. When a design repeatedly appears in influential hands, the message is unmistakable.
More than a seasonal release, the Borsetto positions itself as Gucci’s next potential it-bag — an object designed not merely to complement a look, but to define it.
