James Marsden returns as Cyclops in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’, calling the experience an emotional and exciting homecoming after two decades away.
The Marvel universe is gearing up for a highly anticipated moment: James Marsden is set to don Cyclops’ iconic red visor once again in the upcoming film ‘Avengers: Doomsday’. The 51-year-old actor revealed that stepping back into the role has been “an absolute blast” and feels like “a homecoming”.
Speaking to Vanity Fair, Marsden recalled how, for two decades, fans have repeatedly asked whether he would ever return to the character that first propelled him to fame. “I’ve spent 20 years listening to people say, ‘When are you coming back? Are you coming back?’ I’d say: I’m dead… well, maybe not. If they’d waited a couple more years, I’d have struggled to get into the costume. It’s been a blast, it really has,” he joked.
Marsden described reprising Cyclops as a full-circle moment in his career. “It was the first major project I was ever part of, and such a beloved character, an icon from the comics. To step back into that role has been truly special,” he told the publication.
The return of James Marsden in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ not only excites long-time X-Men fans but also promises to bring a wave of nostalgia and emotional depth to the Avengers saga.
