The new Inseki marks a milestone for Kurono Tokyo, integrating Muonionalusta meteorite for the first time in an authorial design signed by Hajime Asaoka.
The start of 2026 arrives with a watch destined to become a cult object. Kurono Tokyo has revealed the Inseki, the brand’s first meteorite-dial timepiece and one of the most ambitious releases in the career of its founder, Hajime Asaoka. Integrating a material that is 4.5 billion years old into such a refined aesthetic language is not an ornamental gesture, but a clear statement of intent within contemporary high watchmaking.
At the visual heart of the Inseki lies the Muonionalusta meteorite, an iron–nickel stone whose natural structure ensures that every dial is entirely unique. To preserve the brand’s signature cylindrical identity, Asaoka employs a bull’s-eye composition: a flat grey meteorite centre framed by a gently curved white lacquer outer ring, creating depth without sacrificing balance. Completing the dial are Calligra Breguet numerals, hand-drawn by Asaoka himself and painted in high relief, alongside his personal seal confirming the individual inspection of each meteorite fragment.
The case retains Kurono’s iconic proportions: 37 mm in diameter, crafted from high-polished 316L stainless steel, with an especially slender profile of just 7 mm before the box-style sapphire crystal. Inside beats the Miyota 90S5 automatic movement, operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour, offering a 40-hour power reserve and fitted with hand-bent steel hands in a monochromatic finish, reinforcing the watch’s overall aesthetic coherence.

Designed for both collectors and real-world wear, the timepiece features 3 ATM water resistance and is paired with a premium calf leather strap, underlining its philosophy of functional luxury. As with all Special Projects from the brand, the Inseki is a non-repeatable limited edition, further enhancing its exclusivity within the international watch market.
The Kurono Tokyo Inseki will officially go on sale on 15 January 2026 at 11:00 p.m. JST, priced at $1,850 USD (excluding taxes and duties), exclusively via the brand’s official website. Global deliveries are scheduled to begin in late February 2026, with purchases limited to one piece per customer following account registration. For those in Tokyo or Shanghai, private in-salon previews are available until the launch date.
With this release, Kurono Tokyo does more than introduce a new material into its creative universe. It consolidates a vision where craftsmanship, astronomy and Japanese design converge in a watch created to transcend trends and seasons.
