Lanvin has decided to radically change its creative approach by launching the Lanvin Lab concept, and they have done so by collaborating with rapper Future for their inaugural collection.

Following the departure of artistic director Bruno Sialelli, the renowned Parisian fashion house announced its intention to establish an experimental space that fosters creative collaborations with prominent and emerging international talents. And the first chapter of this initiative begins with Future’s participation.

Following in the footsteps of Louis Vuitton, which appointed singer Pharrell Williams as the director of their menswear collections, Lanvin has turned to a musical artist for this collaboration. Future, whose real name is Nayvadius DeMun Cash, is an influential rapper, singer, songwriter, and producer from Atlanta. This year, he won a Grammy Award for Best Melodic Rap Performance and has over 24 million followers on Instagram.

Lanvin Lab has invited Future “to create a capsule collection that celebrates an innovative and individualistic vision that bridges the gap between music and fashion,” the brand states in a statement, describing Future as “a visionary whose artistic influence extends far beyond music and entertainment, resonating with large segments of today’s culture.”

“Music will be at the heart of the first iteration of Lanvin Lab. Jeanne Lanvin’s daughter and muse, Marguerite, was an accomplished musician, and music has greatly inspired the mythology of the house,” the brand noted.

The collection, which will be developed in collaboration with Lanvin’s studio, will include ready-to-wear garments and accessories for men and women and will be available in stores later this year. “Lanvin Lab projects will take the form of collaborative collections and will complement the seasonal ones,” the luxury house affirmed.
