“Last night was a midsummer night’s dream,” reads the headline of Lily Collins’ recent Instagram post. Bathed in golden hour sunlight, she elegantly posed in a sheer mesh long-sleeved dress adorned with sparkling embellishments that danced and shimmered in the light at the MaxMara Resort ’24 show.

The Emily in Paris actress completed the ethereal look with a soft silk slip dress and matching open-toe heels. She looked like she stepped out of the pages of a romantic fairy tale. This was fitting for Collins, as she had spent her weekend in Stockholm, Sweden, for the MaxMara Resort ’24 show, inspired by modern reinventions of classic myths and fables by Swedish author Selma Lagerlöf.

Lily Collins showcased her monochromatic folk ensemble at the welcome dinner hosted by the Italian fashion house the night before the presentation. She maintained her natural appearance with soft, shimmery eyeshadow, long lashes, and powdered pink lips, done by makeup artist Aurélie Payen. Additionally, beachy waves reminiscent of the Scandinavian summer framed her face, with a colorful floral crown nestled on top of her head.

Collins continued to embrace transparency the following day. Dressed in black at the MaxMara presentation, held at the Stockholm City Hall’s Great Hall on June 11, she directly contrasted her previous look, and this outfit appeared to be the darker, edgier older sister. She wore a sheer black turtleneck and a deep V-neck lace top underneath, paired with a shiny brocade skirt and a liquid jet-black corset. Her makeup palette also darkened, as she paired intense red mascara with glossy lips.

More and more celebrities, such as Noah Cyrus, Megan Fox, and Sydney Sweeney, have incorporated sheer looks and transparent garments into their wardrobes. Collins is no stranger to elevating these trends to suit her own chic and feminine style, something she further reaffirmed with her latest embrace of all things semi-transparent.

Whether you prefer her dazzling mesh dress or her vampy fitted top, it’s crystal clear that Collins is the queen of transparency.
