Lindsay Lohan to Star in Netflix’s Latest Romantic Comedy ‘Irish Wish’
Lindsay Lohan Returns to Netflix in the Magical Romantic Comedy “Irish Wish”
Lindsay Lohan is set to enchant audiences once again in the whimsical romantic comedy “Irish Wish,” marking her latest collaboration with Netflix following the success of “Falling for Christmas.” Directed by Janeen Damian, produced by Michael Damian and Brad Krevoy, and written by Kirsten Hansen, the film offers a blend of magic, humour, and heartfelt moments, all wrapped up in the picturesque landscapes of Ireland.
In “Irish Wish,” Lohan takes on the role of Maddie Kelly, a shy book editor entangled in a supernatural love story that triggers her journey of self-discovery. Maddie has secretly harboured feelings for the author she ghostwrites for, hoping her affections will be reciprocated. However, when he proposes to her best friend, Maddie is faced with the painful reality that her romantic fantasies may not align with the truth. This leads her to make a spontaneous wish for true love during the wedding in Ireland, only to wake up as the bride-to-be. As the narrative unfolds, Maddie realises that her true soulmate might be someone entirely different.
Lohan’s return to the romantic comedy genre is driven by the film’s emphasis on physical comedy and the opportunity to portray a character navigating towards independence and self-assertion. Maddie’s transformation from an insecure individual to a confident woman resonates with Lohan, who hopes the audience will find inspiration in her character’s journey of self-love and assertiveness.
The film boasts a diverse and talented cast, including Ed Speleers, Alexander Vlahos, Jane Seymour, Elizabeth Tan, and Ayesha Curry, each bringing their unique charm to the captivating story set against the lush landscapes of Ireland. Lohan, who has familial ties to Ireland, seized the opportunity to explore her heritage while filming in the picturesque village of Dalkey, Wicklow, along the east coast of Ireland. The experience was enriched by the camaraderie among the cast, especially with Ayesha Curry, and the special moments shared with her younger brother Dakota, who also appears in the film.
“Irish Wish” will be available on Netflix from March 15th, just in time for St. Patrick’s Day.
