Louis Vuitton unveils the Monterey, a limited-edition timepiece that celebrates the Maison’s first cult watch, now reimagined with exceptional contemporary mechanics.
Looking to its past to advance into the future, Louis Vuitton pays tribute to its very first wristwatch —the iconic LV I and LV II designed by Gae Aulenti— with the new Louis Vuitton Monterey, a modern reinterpretation that preserves the spirit of the original while introducing refined aesthetics and a renewed movement.
Limited to just 188 numbered pieces, the Monterey features a 39 mm yellow gold case, a crown positioned at 12 o’clock inspired by pocket watches, and a white Grand Feu enamel dial with signature red and blue graphic accents. The quartz movement of the original has been replaced with Louis Vuitton’s in-house automatic calibre LFTMA01.02, offering a 45-hour power reserve.

“Reinterpreting a creation means respecting its design and soul. We’ve kept the same graphic codes while seeking a more modern, elevated feel,” explained Matthieu Hegi, Artistic Director of La Fabrique du Temps Louis Vuitton, the atelier behind this remarkable timepiece.
The new Monterey retains the quick-release strap system and bears the engraving “1 of 188” on its caseback, underscoring its exclusivity. Its pebble-shaped, lug-free design —a hallmark of the original— stands as a statement of timeless sophistication.
