Mattel honours Aaliyah with a customised Barbie doll, inspired by her look from ‘One In A Million’.

On January 16, Mattel celebrated what would have been the 46th birthday of the iconic singer Aaliyah Houghton with a special release: the ‘Signature Aaliyah 11.5’ Barbie doll. This collectible figure is inspired by the artist’s unique style, featuring her famous leather pants and crop top, emulating her look from the ‘One In A Million’ music video.

Aaliyah, known as the Princess of R&B, left an indelible mark on both music and fashion. Her influence remains alive, and Mattel has paid tribute to her with this doll, which quickly sold out in pre-order for $55.99 USD. The doll, available exclusively through Mattel and Target, comes with a certificate of authenticity and a stand.

Mattel highlighted that Aaliyah redefined contemporary hip-hop and R&B by blending soft, melodic vocals with powerful beats, a style she herself described as ‘street to sweet.’ The Aaliyah Barbie doll is a tribute to her legacy and enduring influence on music and culture.
