Meghan Markle officially returns to set seven years later, joining the cast of Amazon MGM’s upcoming film ‘Close Personal Friends’.
After seven years away from the screen, Meghan Markle is returning to acting. According to People, the Duchess of Sussex has joined the cast of ‘Close Personal Friends’, an Amazon MGM production currently filming in Pasadena, California. Sources on set said she appeared relaxed, kind, and down-to-earth, introducing herself to everyone and showing confidence in front of the camera once again. An insider revealed that her role will be a small one, playing a version of herself.
The project stars Lily Collins and Brie Larson, alongside Jack Quaid and Henry Golding. The screenplay, written by Isaac Aptaker — known for ‘Love, Simon’ — follows a couple who meet a celebrity during a weekend getaway in Santa Barbara, sparking an unexpected bond between seemingly opposite worlds. Announced back in August, the film immediately caught attention for its blend of contemporary comedy and Hollywood social satire.
This comeback carries special significance given Markle’s influence in global pop culture. Her last acting role was in 2018, in the series ‘Suits’, before stepping away from acting to embrace a new public and media life. Her return to film reignites a narrative many thought closed: Meghan can act again — whenever she wants, however she wants, and entirely on her own terms.
