JW Anderson unveils a fresh campaign fronted by Melanie C, spotlighting heritage craftsmanship through a distinctly modern lens.

From stadium tours to style campaigns, Melanie C continues to reinvent herself. Now, the music icon known worldwide as Sporty Spice lends her face and fierce spirit to JW Anderson’s latest launch — the Loafer Bag.

Crafted in Italy from fine suede and smooth leather, the Loafer Bag is a sculptural reinterpretation of the classic penny loafer, elevated through tactile luxury and grounded in practical design. It’s an accessory that speaks the language of functionality without losing its poetic edge.

The campaign — creatively directed by Jonathan Anderson, styled by Benjamin Bruno, and captured by Heikki Kaski — is a visual study in contrasts: tradition and subversion, nostalgia and newness. With set design by Hella Keck, hair by Karim Belghiran, and make-up by Phoebe Alana Brown, the atmosphere feels unmistakably British, yet globally resonant.

Beyond the signature bag, the imagery also showcases knitwear spun from the finest yarns, denim developed in Japan by expert artisans, archival-inspired foldover trousers tailored in Donegal tweed and pure new wool tartan from Lochcarron. Even hand-crafted stick chairs make an appearance, extending the dialogue between fashion, furniture and form.

By casting Melanie C, JW Anderson continues its exploration of cultural figures who defy categorisation — artists whose influence transcends medium or era. A bold choice for a bold bag, and a reminder that reinvention is itself a craft.
