Michael Rider will debut as Celine’s artistic director on 6 July in Paris, marking the brand’s return to the runway.

Michael Rider, the new artistic director of Celine, will present his first collection for the brand on 6 July in Paris. The show will mark the fashion house’s return to the live runway after years of showcasing its collections through films directed by Hedi Slimane, its previous creative director.

The presentation will take place between Paris Men’s Fashion Week and Haute Couture Week, although it has yet to be confirmed whether it will feature womenswear, menswear, or both.

Rider was appointed artistic director in October 2023 following Slimane’s departure after seven years at the helm of the brand. Before taking on this role, Rider was the creative director at Polo Ralph Lauren and, between 2008 and 2018, worked at Celine as design director under Phoebe Philo.

Now, Rider is responsible for all of the brand’s lines, including fashion, accessories, and leather goods. His appointment is part of a generational shift in the industry, with several luxury houses, such as Chanel and Givenchy, bringing in new creative directors in 2025. His debut will be key in defining the future of Celine under his leadership.
