Netflix confirms Monster: The Ed Gein Story will premiere on 3 October 2025, with Charlie Hunnam as the “Butcher of Plainfield”.

Netflix has officially revealed that Monster: The Ed Gein Story will debut on 3 October 2025, accompanied by the first official campaign posters. The new chapter of Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan’s anthology will star British actor Charlie Hunnam, who takes on the chilling role of the infamous serial killer known as the “Butcher of Plainfield.”

The series explores the life of Ed Gein, a reclusive man from Wisconsin whose disturbing crimes in the 1940s and 1950s horrified America. Although convicted of two murders, he was suspected of many more, including grave robbing and using human remains to create grotesque objects. His story later inspired some of the most iconic horror films in history, including Psycho, The Silence of the Lambs and The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.

The cast also features Suzanna Son, Tom Hollander, Laurie Metcalf, Vicky Krieps, Olivia Williams, Joey Pollari, Tyler Jacob Moore, Charlie Hall, Will Brill and Lesley Manville, promising a powerful ensemble to bring the haunting story to life.

Visually striking and chilling in tone, Monster: The Ed Gein Story is set to become one of the most talked-about releases of the season. The series premieres on Netflix on 3 October 2025.
