The brand Chanel chose Hong Kong to showcase its new Cruise collection, and Penélope Cruz, an ambassador of the brand, was one of the few guests in attendance.

Alongside model Caroline de Maigret, the Spanish actress was the only ambassador to attend the exclusive show by the French brand to present the 2024-2025 Cruise collection. Chanel is known for drawing numerous international celebrities to its front row, but this event was especially notable for the large number of absences. Familiar faces like Carlota Casiraghi, Kristen Stewart, Alexa Chung, and Margaret Qualley were notably missed, despite being regulars at these shows.

The show took place at the Hong Kong Design Institute, the city’s design school, an eye-catching venue known for its industrial aesthetic and brightness. Spanning the building’s two floors, models showcased iconic and recognizable pieces from the brand, including two-piece suits, highly feminine and delicate dresses, bows, plenty of sparkle, and intricate beading.

A devoted admirer of the brand, Penélope chose to pay tribute to Chanel by wearing a white tweed ensemble, one of the label’s signature styles. For the occasion, she wore a two-piece outfit from Chanel’s Spring-Summer 2025 collection. The look featured a round-neck jacket with pockets on each side and jewel buttons down the front, paired with a miniskirt. However, this ensemble included an unexpected detail: feathers adorning the jacket’s collar and cuffs, as well as the hem of the skirt. This touch broke away from the classic lines of the outfit, making Penélope Cruz’s look one of the most talked about of the event.
