Adidas has taken the fashion world by surprise by pausing its highly anticipated YEEZY releases. This decision follows the dissolution of their partnership with Kanye West in 2022.
According to reports, Adidas has suspended all planned YEEZY releases in the foreseeable future. This decision apparently came after an internal Adidas memo circulated within the team, stating that the brand would not be launching new YEEZY editions for the remainder of the year, encompassing online, in-store, and wholesale sales.
The memo purportedly declared that Adidas would not be shipping new products, with the decision seemingly made “at the board level.” The pause will take immediate effect and, as a result, it will impact the new releases Adidas had scheduled for November, including the “Bone,” “Onyx,” and “Zebra” editions of the Adidas YEEZY BOOST 350 V2, as well as some styles from the Adidas YEEZY 500 and 700.
While these reports have not yet been confirmed, this news follows the broader termination of Adidas’ partnership with Kanye West in 2022, which resulted in over $1 billion worth of unused YEEZY products. Following the termination, Adidas executives decided to release the remaining stock, with a portion of the proceeds donated to “organizations working to combat discrimination and hatred, including racism and anti-Semitism.”
At this time, little else is known about the situation, but we anticipate an official update in the near future.
